Femme Fetch: Fashion Fair Perfect Finish Concealer

Picked up a new concealer. I am going to commit to a foundation free summer, well mostly foundation free. With that in mind, I have been on the lookout for the ultimate concealer for the glamorous ethnic femme. I think I may have found it.

The Fashion Fair Perfect Finish Concealer is amazing for these reasons:

  • 3 custom shades designed for ethnic skin- you can pick between 2 palettes and I get use out of all three shades. Highlight, contour, whatever, it’s so femme.
  • matte finish- cuts down on oil, enough said.
  • fragrance free- lessens the chance of breakouts

The concealer retails for $18 USD and is worth every penny when you essentially are getting 3 concealers in one. In the world of the ethnic femme custom mixing can get very pricey when going with other brands. I say love and support the brands that love and support you.

Femme Boy Goes Red- The Products

Hey girlies, want a super intense red lip like the one featured in my latest video.

image

Rev Up the Red Products:

  • Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick Kate Moss Collection in Shade 01- this stuff is highly pigmented and goes on smooth with a creamy, rich finish. Shade 01 is an almost universally flattering red, will read a bit deep and vampy on lighter skin.
  • MAC Lip Pencil in Mahogany- a brownish-red that works wonders for dark girls trying to get the ultimate red lip. Mahogany has great transformative abitly also. For my lighter ladies, try mixing it with a paler pink shade.
  • Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Brazen- one of the most intense and vibrant pigments available in cream form. Not for the timid. Works wonders on lips, I placed a bit right on center of my lips to to add dimension.

Femme Fetch: Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream SPF30 -Dark Spot Correcting

I’m already a huge fan of tinted moisturizers, correcting creams, beauty balms, and any cosmetic aids assisting in fooling the world;Smashbox definitely feeds into this obsession. So let’s get to it.

So Femme-

  • light, buildable coverage great for everyday
  • great as primer under foundation
  • a little goes a long way
  • SPF!!!!! WE LOVE SPF!!!!
  • dark spot correcting.
  • matte/semi-matte finish

So NOT-

  • 5 shades-the blend ability and light formula make the shades work for many, but us dark girls once again don’t get the benefit of this. Would love maybe a warmer,”Deep Dark”  shade not just “Dark”.

Multi-taskers are the future of makeup and I believe Smashbox understands that more than most cosmetic brands. The Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream appears to fade discoloration slightly, but be sure to keep up a good skincare regimen also. Think of this product as an aid, NOT a solution.

Femme Fetch: NARS Illuminator

Loving my NARS Illuminator in the shade Laguna, especially for the summer. This stuff works great on the body and face. Decent amount of wear time but keep it in your purse for long days or nights. Best applied or at least blended with fingers.

Mix High &Low: Pair the Nars Illuminator of your choice with one of the Tango with Bronzing Powders from NYX Cosmetics. The powder will add a bit more dimension to your glow and also work to set the NARS Illuminator for longer wear.

Femme Fetch: e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St. Lucia

Loving the blush/bronzer combo from e.l.f cosmetics!!!! I have been impressed by e.l.f. a few times before, the line is pretty solid considering the price point.

I picked up the duo in the shade St. Lucia which is supposedly comparable to the NARS Orgasm/ Laguna Duo. The two are definitely similar with wear time and packaging. The difference comes in the pigment pay off, NARS being the better of the two. I get great color from the e.l.f. duo, but takes a bit more product.

The St. Lucia is the most universal shade of the 3, surprisingly. e.l.f offers two deeper duos, but St. Lucia is definitely my favorite.

Femme Tip: For girls deeper in tone, use the bronzer shade only slightly below the blush shade almost overlapping the two shades. It creates a warmth that looks more natural to darker skin.

Femme Fetch: Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation w/ SPF 20

Loving this foundation for daytime wear. Light to medium coverage, broad spectrum SPF, and velvety satin/matte finish. Works great with all skin types and provides effective protection from the sun. I suggest keeping this foundation exclusively for daytime/ everyday wear and going for a different foundation when going out. Not enough strength in the coverage department for nighttime and foundations with SPF tend to photograph a bit badly. Wish they had a few darker shade options, but this always seems to be my request to almost all cosmetics lines as a dark glamazon princess. I picked up this foundation at my local CVS for $10 USD, which saves me more money to waste on makeup elsewhere.

Look out for a demo/ review video soon.

Femme Fetch: Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara

I have not been this impressed with a mascara in long time. Please seriously consider purchasing this amazing product from Urban Decay. This formula and the brush focus on both adding volume and length to the lashes, but definitely more on the volume side of things. Big Fatty works for the femmes wanting to get a slightly false and dramatic effect. The only downside to this mascara and many other high end mascaras is that the cost (Urban Decay Big Fatty retails for $20) is not always worth the short 2-3 month shelf life that mascaras have.

Femme Tip: Mascara is all about the brush, that’s what gives you the different looks. Try keeping the brush of your favorite mascaras and just buy a cheap mascara and use the wands you have saved versus the wand it comes with.
