Femme Boy Goes Red- The Products

Hey girlies, want a super intense red lip like the one featured in my latest video.

image

Rev Up the Red Products:

  • Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick Kate Moss Collection in Shade 01- this stuff is highly pigmented and goes on smooth with a creamy, rich finish. Shade 01 is an almost universally flattering red, will read a bit deep and vampy on lighter skin.
  • MAC Lip Pencil in Mahogany- a brownish-red that works wonders for dark girls trying to get the ultimate red lip. Mahogany has great transformative ability also. For my lighter ladies, try mixing it with a paler pink shade.
  • Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Brazen- one of the most intense and vibrant pigments available in cream form. Not for the timid. Works wonders on lips, I placed a bit right on center of my lips  to add dimension.

Every shade. Ben Nye matte foundation set , 38 shades; they are a cream and wow at the coverage! Got them for a steal at #Spotlight in Pittsburgh.

Femme Boy:- love the shades and coverage of this foundation, not as mattifying as i would like , I would say more of a semi-matte.

Femme Fetch: Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation Stick

image

According to Maybelline.com: “Our first gel stick foundation with an anti-shine core, fresh gel foundation blends to a natural matte finish, lightweight powders in the anti-shine core instantly dissolve excess oil”

All in all, the Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick holds up with a few minor things that I would have changed. The product definitely delivers a shine-free finish, feels light weight, and is extremely easy to apply.

Dimethicone is second on the ingredient list for the inner core “anti-shine” portion of the stick, so it definitely is going to go on the skin smoothly and help mattify. Their are also dimethicone cross polymers included further down the line on the list, which suggest there is a good amount but not too much to cause worry. Also the use of this product is for topical purposes, which is the best way to utilize this ingredient. The foundation will create a barrier around the skin making it not the best option for my femmes with acne issues.

I like Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free as an “on-the-go” foundation. It’s easy to apply and may need to be touched up throughout the day. The stuff instantly mattifies and takes away shine. But if there ever was a foundation that has to be washed off before bed, it is this one, no exceptions!!!!

Maybelline offers good shade selection(12 shades) for the foundation and is quite affordable(under $10 usd). Definitely worth adding to the collection, you could always use more makeup, girlie!!!!

Femininely Flawless: Matte Foundations

Mattifying foundations work to achieve coverage on the face(sometimes body) while providing an “oil free” finish to the skin in varying degrees. Typically, these specific foundations include silica, talc, and dimethicone for their mattifying properties, and are safe for consistent use on the skin. The key word when shopping for mattifying products is going to be "non-comedigenic" or "oil-free" meaning won’t clog pores. Oily/combination skin is usually best suited for matte foundations, but normal skin types can experiment when going for a certain look.

image

When wearing matte foundation starting off with a slightly moisturized face works best. The foundation has something to adhere to and blending is always easier on moisturized skin. Let the mattifying element come from your foundation, not your moisturizer.

image

I favor a matte foundation specifically when going out and especially when I am sure I will be photographed. Nothing worse than a super oily face showing up all over Instagram and Facebook. :-( Less is always more with matte foundations , blend in quick light strokes pressing in with the warmth of your fingers after. Use the setting powder sparingly, very light hand here. Matte Foundation and tons of powder is a less than desirable look.

image

Femme Tip: Does your skin look flaky and super dry when you wear matte foundations? Try exfoliating the skin first, this removes any dead skin cells that may be on the skin preventing a smooth finish.

Femme Fetch: CK ONE Skin Illuminator

image

My approach to makeup has always been about releasing the glow within or at least looking as much like J.lo as possible. In steps the CK One Skin Illuminator from Calvin Klein to give you that undeniable glow. I am loving the big push from fashion to cosmetics taking place with a lot of the big design houses, e.g. Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Tom Ford, Calvin Klein, etc. The entire CK One line is pretty solid and with some minor tweaking in the next few years, I think it could be a solid all around beauty resource for us all.

image

So let’s talk the CK One Skin Illuminator:

So Femme:

  • 3 universally flattering shades (VERY FEMME!!!!)
  • great on bare or made-up skin
  • iridescent pearlescence (no shimmer/glitter overload)
  • lightweight and long-wearing

So NOT:

  • the packaging ( loose top makes it horrible for travel and squeezing it out sometimes gives way to much product.)

image

Apply the Illuminator right along the highs of the cheekbone and blend lightly with fingers or sponge. It really works wonders. The positive about this set of illuminators is that they truly work for everyone, I mean EVERYONE. What is even more great is the entire line has a good base of makeup to select from for most people. Rome was not built in a day, so I look forward to the expansion of the line.

Available at  all Ulta locations and online!!!!

Femme Tip: Try the CK One Cream to Powder Bronzing or Blush Duo under the illuminator and get a super intense glow. Go from J.lo to Goddess Aphrodite on the beaches of Brazil!!! Trust Me.

Femme Fetch: e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St. Lucia
Loving the blush/bronzer combo from e.l.f cosmetics!!!! I have been impressed by e.l.f. a few times before, the line is pretty solid considering the price point.
I picked up the duo in the shade St. Lucia which is supposedly comparable to the NARS Orgasm/ Laguna Duo. The two are definitely similar with wear time and packaging. The difference comes in the pigment pay off, NARS being the better of the two. I get great color from the e.l.f. duo, but takes a bit more product.
The St. Lucia is the most universal shade of the 3, surprisingly. e.l.f offers two deeper duos, but St. Lucia is definitely my favorite.
Femme Tip: For girls deeper in tone, use the bronzer shade only slightly below the blush shade almost overlapping the two shades. It creates a warmth that looks more natural to darker skin.
