This song is from one of my closest friends, TOKEN. He just started a blog and I am promoting him. He is a rapper and I know that is not everyone’s cup of tea, but he is pretty good. FEMME DIVA-RUPAUL I have to say growing up I never understood what Rupaul truly meant or represented for the lgbtq community, especially for gays of color. In the past few years of my life, I’ve seen that Rupaul speaks to the possibility of achieving whatever you choose in this world. She calls on this idea that despite what people may say or think you can truly rise to the head of the class. I don’t believe we should all look to fame as the ultimate marker for success, but Ru’s fame represents so much more. Her fame represents hope and possibility. Who would’ve thought a colored boy in a wig could do all of that?
I am totally wanting to be the lead girl in the front rocking the orange suit. This is so awesome!!!! BE BOLD, BE FEMME!!!!!!
MADONNA- What it Feels Like for a Girl
So I just realized that the last post was my 100th post, yay!!!! It took awhile considering I try not to reblog to often. I am so excited for all my followers and the experience that this blog has given me, it has been pretty fun and oddly therapeutic at times.
I do know that my blog caters to a predominantly female or femme-identified audience and I love that so much. I also know that life often throws us obstacles that are toatlly unfair and hurtful. But femininity does not equate weakness and that is what this blog is here to illustrate. Through embracing “typical” feminine practices such as beauty regimens, we embrace what makes us feel good and in turn we gain confidence and strength.I want people to embrace the things that other label feminine as true sources of strentgh and draw inspiration from that, I know I do.
I love the “feminine” elements of life and I wouldn’t want to be any other way.
I posted this Madonna video because she has been a source of strength for me for years. I love this song because I know so many women and people who feel they don’t really “fit” in can relate to it.
